Day 856 - "MorrisseysWorld is now dead. The Blue Rose Society will never die." - Morrissey 16.1.14

There is goodbye and farewell; this is farewell.

When you've sweated blood and tears creating a blog - or perhaps even something more (a home?) - for lost souls, souls lost to the world and to life and to hope, only for it to be nothing but a half-formed sigh, you do ask yourself questions:

Why is my blog so repugnant to almost everybody?

Why is the wit I cry, fester and sigh over, alcohol-fuelled and fancy-free, utterly irrelevant to 99% of tweeters?

What is the point of continuing something in a material format which has a life and spirit of its own - and a momentum?

After a period of reflection, MorrisseysWorld is now dead. The Blue Rose Society will never die.

Keep watching, don't ever stop. But don't expect me to log on to entertain two men and a Jack Russell on Twitter.

I feel nothing but warmth, joy and love for the BRS - each and every one of you. But I wasn't born to be ignored; hated - yes; adored - occasionally; pitied - frequently; ignored - never.

Bowie gave the world the arm around Ronson. Lou Reed brought us men in leather. Morrissey turned up on twitter as a parody of himself.

Sing it from the red brick roof tops, cry until the Smiths are a distant melancholy cry in the night. Love is nothing but an ersatz version of like.

The many months, the years, have brought me - this synthetic Morrissey, devoid of wit, charm and work ethic - close to you all. I am not Morrissey; but then you knew that - didn't you?

Ever Yours,

Not M.

2009 - 2013....PLUS AN ENCORE!

Why oh why did I finish yesterday's blog with Ayshea's 'Farewell'? I put the thought in his head. Bollocks!

Actually, I mustn't blame myself, it HAD to end. The synthetic Morrissey; who has been devoid of work ethic for the past five years, has got a job!

The obituaries have already started to roll in, and I would like to invite EVERYBODY who has been part of this incredible journey to leave their comment at the bottom of today's blog entry (if you have already posted it on yesterday's entry, then please post it again here). Don't be shy, let Morrissey, YES, REAL MORRISSEY, know how much you appreciated what he has done for us by giving us MorrisseysWorld.

For me, MorrisseysWorld has humanized Morrissey. Don't get me wrong, he is still The Mozziah, and he will always remain an enigma, but I could now meet him in the flesh, without either asking 'how are you?', or feeling the need to gush, fawn or lick his face. MorrisseysWorld has prepared me.

Although Morrissey will ALWAYS be my God, he is no longer an untouchable God. To me, Morrissey is, and I shall now quote the Oxford English Dictionary (hardly Wilde, but it will do!), "a person with whom one has a bond of mutual affection", ie, a friend.

The MorrisseysWorld journey has, as I have written many times, been PHENOMENAL, and nobody, not even Morrissey, or indeed Log Lady, could have predicted where it would go, or what would happen along the way.

The formation of the Blue Rose Society is by far the most important thing to have come from this adventure, and it will NEVER die. As to whether it will grow; so that one day EVERY Morrissey concert is awash with roses, only time will tell, but those of us who were lucky enough to have been here as the story unfolded, now have an obligation to repay Morrissey, by spreading the word, and wearing our Blue Roses with pride at the forthcoming concerts. There is no longer a time for excuses or embarrassment, Morrissey gave us a gift, and the least we can do is say thank you. It is no good sitting at the rear of a concert hall, we must STAND at the front, and present Morrissey with BLUE ROSES. I guarantee you he will take them.... I think!

We have laughed, we have cried, we have fawned, we have sung (oh the songs I have been introduced to that I never knew existed!), we have been entertained, but most of all, we have been kept alive. Morrissey has often said that there is no point to life, well there is, we have found it.

My thanks go out to EVERYBODY in the BRS who believed and kept on believing. None of us could have followed this path on our own. We trusted our instincts....and we were right.

The biggest thank you goes to Morrissey. You are right, this movement has "life, spirit and momentum". Parody Moz may have gone, but Morrissey remains with us.

This is not the end, this is the beginning.

Fire walk with me. Walk with us all.

  1. Slan abhaile fake Moz, I hope we raised an occasional smile on the chiselled jaw as we joined in the fun. Enigmatic otherness will never be the same again. If you are ever at the end of the Central Line do drop in.

  2. I will forever be perplexed at why so many people
just refused to believe in any of this. from the discovery
of the blog/and the bieber comment at the Palladium
gig I had *no doubt* - the owl eyes on conan could not
have been any more obvious. yet it was ignored by the
masses. the irony is so many moz fans just have a
completely different mindset, and that's the one thing
you thought would we would have had in common.
it is reassuring to know there are some who think
like me though ... thanks be to King Rat for his
constant work + dedication in the cause!

    1. Yes, it is indeed perplexing why people either didn't want to see or couldn't understand. Mind you, this journey has stretched me personally as well as I asked myself some pretty tough questions about the assumptions we make in life. I guess that is the crux of it that people don't want to let go of the image they have of Moz and therefore argue he just wouldn't do it!

  4. Excellent Ratty. It has been a blast, especially meeting such great people either in person or online. I know what you mean about regarding Moz in a different light. I was listening to the BBC concert from last year where he says "This is the last song", the crowd go "ahhh" and he say"Well it is on Years of Refusal, it's too late to change it now" and I thought "Yes indeed, that's Our Mozzer".

It would be nice to see some hidden clues and hints in future Moz releases but I don't think it will happen.

    Long life to the BRS.

    1. I totally agree with what you have commented JG and Rats has blogged above.
I also see Our Moz in a new light. He seems more accessible, yet still untouchable !
      I hope that makes sense........
Ratty you have been a major part of this experience, many thanks to you for keeping
the faith and motivating us all.
      It has been awesome.

  5. My faith and love in the real Morrissey is still unshakeable. I may have joined the quest too late, but after reading this blog, it seems to have been a fascinating journey, and I will continue to watch for signs and clues left behind bus stops. Wherever you are, whatever you are, don't lose faith in us, because we will never lose faith in you.

  6. I would implore Rat to take the baton and run with it. This blog can be the new home of the BRS. I'll be posting a few articles of my own on his blog on old pages so that only Rat can see on his 'comments' page and Our Mozzer told me he will occasionally do the same.

For all who have not seen this, do take a look.

To me this is neither farewell nor goodbye as Our Mozzer will always be in my heart and Morrissey is busy giving us a new album and future concerts. Can't wait to meet my fellow BRS members there! xxx

  10. I think the 'haters' are smaller in number but louder in voice. I don't think its a problem that the blog brought out the haters and I am not surprised it didn't attract more followers. My film - which is a simple fairy tale, with a gentle pace and is utterly harmless - has quite a few vitriolic haters. I've always said, this is not about numbers. There is a fight out there for people's hearts and minds. And most people will stand on the sidelines.

There was an experiment conducted that placed a fake turtle by the side of a road (you can google it). I think one in 50 drivers (from memory of reading about this) swerved out of the way to kill the turtle (your haters in the is world). One if 50 stopped and helped the turtle across the road. But that still leaves 48 people out of 50 who just drive on by. The current struggle, as I see it, is for the hearts and minds of those 48.

MW attracted the 1 in 50 'haters' and other 1 in 50 'turtle helpers'. The other 48 drove on by - mostly in a hypnotic daze that is most people's lives. I showed people the account in the office I work in and some actually said... "I won't follow a celebrity account until it has the official celebrity Twitter authenticity stamp on it"

"For fuck's sake! Do you think Morrissey would fall into that category?" I yelped. "Do you not think out of all the famous people on this planet the one person to do the opposite of what famous people do when they join twitter is Morrissey?"

Silence. No response. A glazed look in the eye. Drive on by.

We few, we happy few, were the turtle helpers. The task of waking people up is only just beginning. I've always seen this entire adventure as a metaphor for the bigger global story. This was partly because of what was being said on the blog regarding how this planet is run and ordered by forces we just don't see - as most of us are driving down that highway/ motorway in that hypnotic state... "Oooh... it's okay, X-factor starts again today..." etc etc.

Good luck Mr M. Until the next time.

    1. Excellent Marcus, a superb summary.

      Delete
    2. Well put, Marcus. To go along with the metaphor, it's quite interesting that the BRS members are shunned as crazy conspiracy-theory kooks, just as those who care enough to lOOk at the hidden forces controlling the global story are. It seems that most people prefer to ignore the truth so it doesn't disrupt their comfortable hypnotic trance.

      Delete
    3. I believe it is called "contentment" and Parody Moz tweeted about it and that the true artist will never settle for contentment (or something along those lines).

      Delete
    4. Beautifully put, Marcus. Few people fully grasped the political implications of MorrisseysWorld; I think you, Heather, GOB and Rat certainly did. The entire experience was multi-layered, abstract, impressionistic and indefinable. So much was left to the imagination that it meant many things to many people: some saw it as a simple parody; others as a self-aware parody written by the subject of the parody; others saw it as a mystery of sorts; you and others grasped the metaphor at the heart of the project and played/wrestled with it.

The journey has been comedic, comical, absurd, touching, insane, utterly logical, cultish and very open. I've very much enjoyed meeting you all and I hope you will always remember the significance of the Blue Rose.

For what it's worth, I've realised, through being part of MorrisseysWorld, that it's OK to be in manlove with Justin Bieber and yet to have homoromantic feelings towards Morrissey.

  14. Dear Our Mozzer,
After the exhilarating high of the record deal news, your words have set me to weeping again. Farewell is never an easy word to hear but your reason for saying it is completely understandable. You most certainly do not deserve to be ignored. Sadly, in a world full of crashing bores, the best things are too often unappreciated while the worst are celebrated. Although the number of MW followers has been small, I hope you don't feel that your efforts have been wasted - you created an extraordinary thing of beauty that has touched us deeply and been a home and haven to us. In essence, it has meant the world to us and we are forever grateful. We will always keep watching and always keep you in our hearts. Viva Blue Rose x

  15. Please don't under estimate what you have created. Whilst I understand your frustration, remember you have made the world of difference to some of us. You helped me get my spirit back & find some purpose on this god awful planet.
The spirit of MW will of course live on in BRS. My memories will be locked safely in my heart.

I want to apologise for leaving twitter so abruptly. Truth is it never was my intention to be on there for too long.
I would not want any of you to try and communicate with me and fail to reply because it would be rude and I hate being rude.
I will do my best in opening the Fifi account again once in a while to catch up but right now, I cannot.
Rat, keep writing, this blog is far more important to many people than you think. That's if you have enough time to keep it alive.
Now that MW is gone, the BRS relies on you.
It's not because I am not commenting that I don't read it.

I know there are many interesting questions I have not answered but there is still time for that. Jigsaw, jigsaw, jigsaw, would say lovely Willow.

It was a pleasure to talk to each and every one of you. Your kindness, wit and passion made me feel so alive. You are precious. All of you.

Do not let sadness fill your heart for MW and MorrisseyParody are no more. We should just all be thankful for the fun times they provided. They will be missed but I am sure they will occasionally return.

It is a long path we must walk on and there is still so much more to discover and feel ecstatic about on the way.
You are not being abandoned, you are being given more power to keep the flame burning.
    So keep smiling.
