Day 1314 - "In response to requests"

Since Thursday, members of the BRS have been getting excited about the prospect of Morrissey announcing concerts in Mexico. Last night I took to twitter and wrote, "A society of deluded souls refreshes the TTY web page - awaiting an announcement about Mehico."

A couple of hours after my tweet, a video was posted on TTY; not mentioning Mexican dates, but instead, showing things cutting up rough at a Morrissey concert.

This morning, another TTY statement appeared, this time with the heading of 'Mexico' and the following statement:

"In response to requests, Morrissey is unable to play concerts in Mexico due to an ongoing dispute with Mexican promoters."

WHAT can this "ongoing dispute" possibly be? Is there a Mexican mafia demanding that Morrissey will only be allowed to play if he agrees to open each show with First of the Gang, and closing with Mexico and There is a Light as a double encore? More importantly, and certainly more interesting to the BRS members, is the fact that this announcement appeared just hours after my tweet about Mexico. On it's own, it is of course just a coincidence, but when added to the list of the other three hundred coincidences that we have had so far on our journey, then it means so much more. And WHAT exactly could the sentence "In response to requests" possibly refer to? Who even has access to Morrissey to make such requests?

And still NO ONE sees.

  2. Poor old Ratty. You are of course dying to write that it was AlfsButton who started all the twitter speculation about Mexico, when he posted a picture of the Mexican flag on Thursday; but of course you aren't allowed to mention AlfsButton, are you - it must be killing you!

You also can't mention that AlfsButton retweeted your tweet of last night about Mexico, but don't worry, a number of us saw it. There were some other tweets from AlfsButton yesterday, and if I had more time I would list them - but I don't, so I shan't. Perhaps Orange M or Kerry M can post them. One particular tweet mentioned Elizabeth Battenburg. Coincidentally, a new Spanish interview has emerged this morning, in which Moz mentions, Elizabeth Battenburg. Come on Ratty, it is your job to keep us informed of these things, not mine!

    1. Oh Rat bag, I see that in my absence, no one else has bothered to inform you of Alf's tweets: your popularity really has fallen these days. Let me help out. GoodLuckLouis was trending yesterday, as Louis Tomlinson was due to play football for Doncaster (Belles not Rovers), and Alf added to the hash tag, "Break a leg. Yours." Harsh words. He then tweeted to the lovely Kerry M, "How can a town be 'Royal'? Did the Ms. Battenberg shoot a peasant there?" (Sorry about my misspelling of Battenberg earlier, I was thinking that HMR was a cake - easy mistake.
We then had a tweet at 6pm that read, "Mexico, Mexico, Mexico", and then another tweet to Kezza M which read, "August will bring news. Mex." There were more tweets later, which included, "My new single is a duet with Terence Trent D'Arby" and "Is Twitter the only medium I can be found on? Not on your last pound!" He's a funny thing.

    2. I missed the conversation, but break a leg is a theatrical term for 'good luck'.

    3. Kezza M? Oh dear, as if Kerry itself isn't an awful name. Kezza is horrendous!!
Alfie B, was on form on Sunday. Think most of us were a little tipsy though.
Kerry Ann, are you on twitter? You see all Alfie B's tweets. Maybe you should say hello, rather than lurking in the corner?

  3. I have no idea if requests about Mexico could be coming from other sources, but the timing of the TTY posting does seem remarkably coincidental. Enjoyed reading the new Spanish interview today, even through the garbled prose of Google translate.

    1. Wonder why the answers are from 'R'. It was the same in the previous El Mundo interview. Must mean something in Spanish.
