Day 1395 - 72 Sleeps 'til Hammersmith

I have my ticket for Hammersmith!

In other news, there has been no sign of any M pessoas in the ole Twit Arms as far as I am aware, although in fairness, I am hardly ever there these days.

The concert in the Masonic Temple in Detroit had Morrissey repeating the hand sign that he gave right at the end of the London O2 concert - my thanks to the Orange Mechanique (aka Chuck) for pointing this out on her new blogsite, The World Of Morrissey, which is apparently the new home of the Deluded Dozen!

HeatherCat attended last night's concert in Chicago, but was unable to get anywhere near the stage with her blue rose. Morrissey apparently made reference to 'Rose Garden' during his between song banter, but didn't sing it again. And on the subject of Rose Garden, Lynn Anderson (@LynnAshow) has tweeted about a possible duet, although rather unfortunately, Lynn seems to think that Morrissey's twitter account is @morrisseysolo - ouch! Here is her tweet from 3 days ago:

"Could a @morrisseysolo duet be in the works? Like and retweet this video from @TheRyman if you think we should." (To date there have been 10 retweets, 0 likes (as twitter don't have likes) and 10 favourites).

The next Morrissey concert is scheduled for Bloomington tomorrow night, but I don't think there will be any more BRS members attending a concert until Vulgar Angie goes to Salt Lake City on the 18th. I would dearly have loved to have been able to attend Salt Lake City, or  Red Rocks on the 16th for that matter, but c'est la vie.

And finally, the BRS tumblr site recently added a picture of Morrissey being handed a yellow rose. It apparently happened in Washington DC on June 16th.

  1. "Good eye, good eye, way to, way to, watch that ball go by.." you have your cricket, we have softball, complete with chants, which I think work well here 'cause I didn't even catch the hand sign, well done.

    1. I played softball for a while. They shouted lots of things at me, but never that.

  2. The tweet from Lynn Anderson would have looked so much better if you had taken a snippety snip of it and pasted it in. I think I can offer an explanation about the ‘likes’. If you look at her tweet again she says like and retweet this video, by which I think she means retweet the tweet and like the video on utube. Of course the idiots misread ‘like’ for ‘favouriting’ the tweet – nincompoops.

    1. I've just had a look at the tweet in question and I don't interpret it the way you do. I read it that Lynn has confused Twitter with Facebook, where like is used in the same way as favourite. Seeing as Lynn also thought @morrisseysolo was Morrissey, it looks like she is the one who probably got things a little muddled. A bit harsh to label people idiots and nincompoops.

  3. So happy for all our British friends who will be getting another chance to see his Mozness soon. I desperately wish I could go to the Bloomington concert, it's in a wonderfully small and intimate venue. I would've planned to attend, but unfortunately work commitments got in the way. Work is a four letter word...

  4. Thanks for mentioning our site, dearest furball. Our hit count exploded! We just thought it would be a nice addition to your BRS monarchy. Power to the people etc.

I can't believe you included the "hand sign" picture. I posted that for a joke, silly! That's not a proper hand sign, he probably just sang "get back to the ghetto" in that moment. Check out our blog for a picture of the real hand sign, and other recent developments in BRS. I know you're terribly busy with your cricket, whatever that is, but please do try to keep up.

    1. Do we know during which song he made the sign? I know the whole show is up on YouTube but unfortunately I don't have time to watch it all.

    2. Luckily it wasn't so difficult to find out, with that back drop, pink stage light, Morrissey singing centre stage... It was during Crashing Bores, "You don't understand". He held an interesting speech before the song about the music industry.

  5. The problem with the middle of the night is that hell knows neither fury nor heartbreak like a showgirl with ripped fishnets.

At the same time, better my ripped fishnets strewn all over the place than all of these cobwebs everywhere.

Better the devil you know. Better the showgirl you don't. And if you're lucky, they should turn out one day to hopefully be both one and the same.

    1. Riddles. Cobwebs and riddles.... and all in the middle of the night.

    2. Incidentally, I was only referring to the cobwebs all over your blog. Lest you might otherwise think there were cobwebs on my fishnets.

      Here's one for you

    3. Thank you muchly for the song. Sorry about the cobwebs, but somewhere along the way I seem to have frightened everyone away - I'm rather good at that. Oh well, I'll carry on with the occasional observation or ramble, and if those of you who don't mind the odd cobweb fancy leaving a little something, then please do. We are the world, we are the children, we are the... how did anyone get away with writing that crap?
Earth is the loneliest planet of all.

  6. Where's fancy123?

Fancy, I was listening to this earlier today and it reminded me of you. Which is not to say in any way that I think you're hued in blue. I also don't usually listen to any blues. So we can make of this strange association what we will.

Which should be, quite frankly,... probably not much.

  7. Will you dance upon my grave?
    Will you jump?
    How high?

Cat's eyes. Nine lives. Never try.
Stand stock-still. And above all, above all,
    Above all
Never, ever let them see you cry

    Windless. Starless. Careless.

    Care MORE

    Now I'm here
    I'm on the floor
    Here to stay
    I lay my head

But I'll be gone before you

And then these words I said
    We'll look again one day
    And think
    How very strange

But then, another moment gone, and soon
    We move ahead

Will you dance upon my grave?
    Will you jump?
    How high?

    Cat's eyes. Nine lives.
But never let them see you cry

    Face serene, immobile
    Skin like milk
    And alabaster
    But underneath kohled lids
    And silent breaths

    Suffocating, dreams

    Eyes full of heaviness
    Thoughts full of lead
    Pulling me
Like a weight to the bottom of the ocean

    And then
    Like a weight
To the bottom of the ocean

    I'll be gone
    I'll be gone
    I'll be gone

Will you dance upon my grave?
    Will you jump?
    How high?

    Close your eyes now, sleepyhead
    A lullabyed goodbye

    Cat's eyes. Nine lives.

But I'll be gone before you

    3. This is heart wrenching & extremely beautiful Astra.
      A pure gem.
      I am absorbed.

      Sweet dreams & thank you.

    4. I can't thank you enough for this, Astra. It's the only encounter with beauty I've had during an otherwise dreadful day - a much-appreciated ray of light. Thanks for your ever-shining presence.
