Day 1547 - Room with a view

On Friday I wrote that I wouldn't return unless one of the following happened:
A) Moz accepts a blue rose
B) Our Mozzer returns to Twitter
C) Morrissey wears a t-shirt of a manufactured pop act
D) Something else happens that is particularly relevant to our story
Those paying close attention would have seen that there was NO E.

The fact that I have returned means that one of the above HAS taken place. In fact, two and a half of the above four have taken place! The half is A. There were no blue roses on view at Sunday's concert in Asunción, Paraguay - which it should be noted looked to be a fantastic concert, with a very enthusiastic crowd, and Moz and the band once again in top form - but there WERE white roses.

Initially I didn't notice the white roses, but yesterday True-To-You posted a video from Asunción of Everyday is Like Sunday. NO explanation as to why the video was posted was given. I had already watched the first half of the song; which includes the long piano intro, but I had been interrupted while watching it, so hadn't watched to the end. As TTY had posted it, I decided to watch, and there to my surprise, at the 3 minute 37 sec mark, a white rose was thrown to (or rather at) Moz, which he caught it, looked at it, and then tossed back. The reason the video had been posted on TTY was OBVIOUSLY to bring it to the attention of the BRS - it obviously would mean NOTHING to anyone else. Solow haven't even bothered mentioning that the video was posted on TTY, which is a first for them.

Jesse Tobias (@8stitches9lives) also tweeted an instagram clip of the roses (yes plural) being thrown.

With regards to B, Our Mozzer did make a return to Twitter, but more about that in a minute.

There has been no wearing of a manufactured pop act t-shirt (C), so I shall move onto D - 'Something else happens that is particularly relevant to our story'.

On Sunday, I stayed in a spit and sawdust Travelodge hotel in Cambridge, and when I awoke yesterday morning, I looked out of my window onto the beautiful view of the car park below, and saw a white window cleaners van with the company name ISIS written on the side. Later in the day, I tweeted a photo of it, and wrote, "This was the site that greeted me outside my hotel window this morning."

Just a couple of hours later, and SURELY as a taunt to me and my not so glamorous lodgings and outlook, Morrissey posted a video on TTY entitled, 'Outside of Morrissey's hotel in Asuncion, Paraguay, 7 December 2015'. The video showed a group of screaming girls and a rather nice view beyond. Pathetic!.... or maybe I am far too full of my own self importance, and it really is just a coincidence. Pathetic!

A THIRD TTY article was also posted yesterday, and that too may have a slight association with our story. The article was entitled, 'Holly Woodlawn, RIP', and was Morrissey's tribute to Warhol Superstar, actress Holly Woodlawn, who died yesterday. Morrissey wrote:

""Holly came from Miami FLA, hitch-hiked her way across the USA, plucked her eyebrows on the way, shaved her legs and then he was a she..." Walk on the wild side, Lou Reed. Life has kissed her eyelids closed."

The reason that I have mentioned a 'slight association', is because fellow Warhol Superstar, Joe Dallesandro, follows Morrissey on Twitter, and it was Joe who yesterday broke the news of Holly's death. I have no doubt that this is where Morrissey would have found out about it, as did I.

And so onto the return of Our Mozzer to Twitter.

Author of the blog and book 15 Minutes With You, Julie Hamill, got rather excited yesterday when a photo appeared of Morrissey wearing one of the badges that she and @TonyMerchison had given to Moz last year. Julie tweeted, "Best day ever". I questioned this, and asked Julie if it was an even better day than when she chatted to Moz on Twitter, to which she replied, "Okay, so what did I say and what did he say? And when do we run away together?" I reminded her that it was just small pleasantries from what I could remember, and told her that there was no mention of running, adding, "Morrissey would NEVER run!" Julie STILL doesn't believe that MorrisseysWorld is Moz, or that he is on Twitter. Julie has spent the past four years chatting to anyone and everyone who might once have passed the time of day with Morrissey, when she could have been spending the time chatting to the man himself. Oh well!

Nine hours after my conversation with Julie, Our Mozzer (@BRSChairman) turned up on Twitter (at 9.30pm Asunción time), and tweeted:

"Mumbling, bumbling, stumbling, and tumbling around. Never running. No not at this age."

I doubt for one (or 15) minute that this will convince Julie that it is Moz, but hey ho.

Right then, back I must go to reading about Jack the Ripper and planning my 38th birthday party. I no longer have the Shed 7 concert to look forward to, as it took place last night.... and it was incredible. I had forgotten just how good a band they are, and I love scrawny Rick Witter, the lead singer, and although I rarely get excited by guitarists, Paul Banks is quite a player.

The BRS tumblr has been updated to include the recent red rose (photo taken from FTM!) and Sunday's white rose. FTM received approximately 11 hits from Paraguay. What next for our journey? The SudAmerican tour party tomorrow reaches Argentina.

  1. good read again, but how weird TTY post a clip of the concert and not even one person on SO LOW ask why.. I need a concert fix, I have an asda carrier bag so who knows

  2. I'm still searching for the definitive version of 'White Rose of Athens' - From Al Martino to Nana Mouskouri. No one has done it yet. And time is running out because I can't see Adele or Ed Shearan covering it.

  3. There's way too much George on this chart but at least he didn't make it to no. 1! Quite funny that both Jesse and TTY posted the rose footage. I assume that, if Solow did comment on the video, they would say it was posted because it shows the large crowd in attendance (5,000 people).

    1. You can never have too much George. The EILS footage doesn't really show the crowd size, so that would be no argument. I can't remember the last time (if ever) that Solow didn't give a page to a TTY posting. Perhaps the penny has finally dropped about roses & Skinny & Co don't like it.
And on the subject of Skinny, he was bullying one of the Solowers the other day, and demanding PROOF that he had ever lied. I posted links to a number of his lies, but funnily enough, he censored it! His cry for 'freedom of speech' is all on his terms. He is a coward through and through.

  5. It was a nice touch to include Scott Weiland's cover of "Reel Around The Fountain" in today's chart. A bright flame extinguished way too early. His death has deeply saddened me. And lest we forget, December 8th is a hideous day in history, with the murder of John Lennon.

  6. Really enjoyed this chart Rat!

  7. Mr Ratty, thank you for keeping us updated on all things Morrissey. It's nice that we are getting a lot of info from the So American tour, especially since we often get nothing from many of the other shows. I realize I should acknowledge this more often and I do check in on it daily. For me life has been odd recently, with the above (50F) average temps we are having. I live in an area of Wisconsin where numerous skiing areas can be found, none have been doing any business so far this season, and according to forecasts, they can not expect any change soon. And I have been experiencing lot of synchronicity. For example, yesterday, I opened up the newspaper to a page with an ad for Scott Weiland's concert that was to be this week in Milwaukee. I expressed how odd it seemed to stumble on this and then had to explain to some of the younger kids who he was. A short time later I see him listed on the FTM count down, singing a Morrissey song, which I had not known he had recorded. (After listening to it on youtube I laughed out loud on reading in the comment section-the phrase 'more cowbell' which comes from an old Chris Walken sketch on SNL a comedy show). Then, also in FTM, was the picture of some one goose stepping and I had the day before watched a show on how many of the Nazis' had immigrated to Paraquay after WWII. Then last night on 'at midnight' a fake game show on the US Comedy Channel, they had a sketch with a Moz imposter and how he had won a prize for the 2015 worst sex scene in a novel. Do not know if OM will like it, but the performers were Moz fans. One, April Richardson, claims she has been to his concerts 116 times. You might be able so view it on YouTube the Dec 9 show, about 1/2 through the show. Well, that has been my life recently. Again thank you for keeping the blog up to date and the count down(a very good one this week). I imagine you have invested a lot of time in it and I and other fans appreciate it. I also enjoy the input by the others, especially, some of the thoughts Astraea posts, the pictures (you had a great crotch shot of Moz this week), and all the new knowledge I have gained about Moz and other Moz related items.

    1. Good to know you are still around, Fancy, and always nice to hear what you've been up to. Out of interest, why the name, Fancy123?

      Delete
    2. Fancy was the name of my dog or the first one I'D raised from a puppy. She looked liked a miniature golden retriever even though her mom was a long haired dachshund (my brothers dog, Abby) and a cockapoo (Devo, neighborhood Romeo). Most of my dogs are are usually slightly used (or rescued) dogs. Many of the pets I've had are rescued, but recently or almost 2 years ago, a cat showed up in the dead of winter, temp below zero. He presented me with a dead bird and I allowed him use of my garage, then the basement and finally the house. His name was Mr Kitty, (we know for sure it's his name since he answered to it). He was first cat I ever had. Now I have 3. I am assuming Mr Kitty has become the neighborhood stud muffin cat, as in the last month I've found 2 kittens at my backdoor... on separate days. As they both look like a miniature Mr Kitty, who I assume hooked up on one of the times he got out, I figure they are his 'little b-----ds'. Do not know how the mommy cat traced him back to our house, but Mr Kitty's wild days are over, as he was fixed a few months ago--guess we weren't quick enough. The 123 added to fancy was because others already had the name. I am sorry if my name's background is not very exciting, that it's not an old stripper or wrestlers name. Hope you have a good weekend.

    3. Out of interest, were you ever an old stripper or wrestler? If not, what was your occupation before retirement?

  8. I was an RN, although years ago I ran a business, from my home, that made booster buttons. It was called 'Buttons Galore' and I got plenty of weird phone calls from people who thought the name meant something else. They would call wanting to speak to 'Miss Buttons'. Having good weekend here as we continue to have a 'heat wave' of above average temps and no snow.
