Day 2346 - A bowlful of trouble?

I am rather excited today, for two reasons. Firstly, it has been confirmed that Jacky's Only Happy is going to be released as a vinyl single, and the B side is going to be my favourite Moz cover, Elvis Presley's You'll Be Gone. I had only tweeted yesterday how I would love for You'll Be Gone to be put on vinyl, but didn't expect it to happen quite so soon.

The second reason that I am feeling rather excited, is because I think Morrissey might be about to sing the anthem of the BRS, Trouble Loves Me, at The Hollywood Bowl this weekend. I had tweeted yesterday that I felt the Bowl was the perfect place for Trouble to be sung, and my tweet was favourited by none other than Morfessa. I asked Morfessa if he/she/humasexual was teasing me, and got the reply, "I have better things to do." I guess we will find out in a few days time as to whether or not I was being played with.

Footage from Morrissey's concert in Seattle has at last appeared on Youtube, including the marvellous My Love, I'd Do Anything For You, which wasn't played in Portland. Alma Matters once again saw Morrissey give an 'O' sign, which is no great surprise, as it is the song that Moz often makes the masonic/illuminati 'O' sign in; in fact, Alma has always had masonic/illuminati connotations - the original picture cover has Morrissey with his hand inside his shirt:

Other interesting things to note from Seattle include: the band wearing t-shirts with the word, 'americKKKa' written on it, and the return of a finger plaster. Is the t-shirt a statement by Morrissey that America is full of racists? No doubt the likes of Simon Price would see it as Morrissey giving his support to the Klu Klux Klan! I can picture his tweets now, "He's mentioned the KKK on his t-shirts, he must support them! He's a racist!"

Seeing the finger plaster made me smile. Most people will have no idea why Morrissey periodically wears a plaster, but those of us who have been on this six year journey with him, know that it is a MorrisseysWorld reference, and therefore now a nod to our little group. Morrissey originally wore a finger plaster after a dog bit his finger in the summer of 2011, but it was a MorrisseysWorld blog article published on October 6th of that year that gives the reason as to why he still wears a plaster:

"Consider leaving plaster on finger long after healing or alternatively wearing cosmetic finger plaster to emphasise personal suffering of my journey."

In other news, the Jewish Chronicle has today published a story about Morrissey's two new Israeli related songs, Israel and The Girl From Tel Aviv Who Wouldn't Kneel. According to Lee Harpin, who wrote the article, Israel is a pro-Israel song, whilst TGFTA is about the war diarist, Etty Hillesum; although from what I can ascertain, Hillesum was from Holland.

And finally for today, EARS posted a comment on my blog of yesterday with regard to a possible influence for a line from Spent The Day In Bed. She recently heard a Kenneth Williams sketch, in which either Julian or Sandy said, "I am not my type." It does seem very Williamsesque.

  2. So much to be excited about, including tomorrow being Moz day (congrats to M)! I'm especially intrigued now to hear TGFTA - Etty Hillesum was a remarkable woman.
